Stossel is is no economist, as he freely admits, but I can't think of a journalist today that gets our economy better than he does. Good stuff.

the constitution was written to preserve liberty. The liberals on the left have always attacked the constitution because they believe that the govt should have more involvment. The conservatives on the right have always embraced the constitution which is why liberty is linked forever to the right.

"The liberals on the left have always attacked the constitution because they believe that the govt should have more involvement" only in the economy you ignorant buffoon as under the commerce clause. "The conservatives on the right have always embraced the constitution which is why liberty is linked forever to the right." Conservatism by definition is against liberty as that destroys traditional values.

"whenever the government gets involved they always muck it up" Couldn't be more true. This is why capitalism actually works, because there's no such thing as capitalism! Capitalism is the natural human state, I want sharpened sticks, my neighbor makes them. My neighbor wants a clam shell to impress the pretty girl he lives next to, I GET TO WORK. I make him the clam shell necklace, he gets the girl, I get the pointy sticks. When a third party gets involved and wants a cut, we have a problem!

Darned if I can't remember who said it, but I love the quote "If it's too big to fail, it's too big to exist".

He's right no one is too big to fail, the fear of failing should keep an instituition on the right path . If not they must be liquidated and new blood take over.

The empire was ruled poorly once the title of emperor became conservatively heraditary, lots of bad emperors ruling without merit or skill caused the great revolutions of the empire that almost toppled it several times. What made the roman empire great was the relative freedoms and inclusion of the outer provinces. People immigrated en masse to take part of the empire from outside. What finally killed the empire off was christianity, the muslim theocratic caliphate and following Ottoman empire.
