During his investigation of the life and works of Django Reinhardt, a young filmmaker finds himself drawn into the secret universe of the Manouche Gypsies. The film is a music-fueled voyage into a world bound by strange traditions, wedded to generations past, and vibrantly alive here and now.
Dark Eyes (working title) is a documentary film by Mathieu Tonetti and Rick Ross, produced by Flair Films and Maja Films, now in development. Out in 2010.

hi! The only thing I would say is that you need to be a bit careful in terms of copyright as you use a lot of footage from a number of sources. Other than that I'm really looking forward to the documentary! well done

@apolue Grappelli was once asked about the "Le Jazz Hot" session and he said he did not remember it at all. - I totally agree about the lighting. Have you noticed how Django is sitting in a different position in the close-up shots?

@TeddyDupont hello, sorry, didn't see the message. why didn't they ask grapelli in that wonderful ' lifetime in jazz' doc. they must have i suppose. you wouldn't forget the holy grail.

'honeysuckle rose' huh? one of the few i can do, that's a stoke of luck. he'd have done it completely different of course, a classic . maybe it's out there. and who knows? maybe someone said" tell that lighting man to stop pissing about and just switch them on, from the beginning,"
