  • Greatest blues man ever! Why the hell are the recordings so shitty?

  • The lack of quality is due to the lack of resolution inherent in the first available b&W consumer portable video equipment. Only now with better digital processing can these videos be made even presentable. All I can tell you is the video looks better then the restrictive resolution of a web file. And video processors are getting betterer especially for B&W. So things are are just gettin started.

  • @LizzyDouglas I played a couple of jobs with Big John and Guitar Red at Vegetable Buddies in South Bend, Indiana around 1976 as I recall. He was a fine gentleman. Told me BB King played for his wedding. I played bass. He asked me to sing one so even though it was written for a woman, I sang John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery" because I thought it was a great song. He said he really liked the song and played a great harp part on it.

  • This is beautiful. Ernwin Helfer is wonderful.

  • Hello,

I saw this man performing a lon long time ago in my hometown Sittard, The Netherlands. After the concert I had the chance to talk to him. He was so sweet...and talked about his daughter filled with love. I will never forget One arme John, cheers and thanks for showing this film, love Conny

  • "It Hurts Me Too" written by the 'genius' and "The Guitar Wizzard" Tampa Red !!(Hudson Whittaker). Though: NÓT by Elmore James !!

  • I should also say something about SP Leary. That man's drumming was a revelation. He heard everything and would respond in a heartbeat to all the players around him. This rhythmic marvel could make a band blend and stretch and soar. It was a great honor and a great experience to play with SP.

  • I had the honor of working with Big John Wrencher in Chicago back in 1977 or 1978 at Elsewhere. John Brim gave me my first gig in Chicago calling me up on stage only hours after I arrived in town. Big John and John Brim, two great talents. Two great souls.

  • real chicago blues. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!

  • fantastic see footage of wrencher and brim
