She's young, educated and full of energy. Kaoutar Benhamou slips easily between Arabic, French and English, dresses in jeans and tank tops -- not exactly what you would expect from someone running for office in Morocco. But Benhamou is determined to win a seat in local elections on Friday. She's in with a chance as this year 12 percent of seats are reserved for women.

  • @9elohim9 & SugarThief I got some problem against capitalism that hampered & destroy progressive thinking, feminism, democratic forces and

around the world, namely in North Africa and Middle East.

giving upper hand to religious integralism.

  • @sugarthief now please look at it again... this time on an intellectual level. look beyond what the media would like you to see... The message is crystal clear... is it really about drinking water?

    peace....

  • @sugarthief You're right about the drinking water, BUT please take a closer look at what she is representing. The culture of Morocco is beautiful, why not embrace it and fight for clean drinking water. or should she be viewed as a westerner in order for her voice to be heard, she looked nothing like the other women."even if no one can hear or understand you, your physical appearance: the way you dress, the jewels u may wear, the way you conduct yourself, says a lot more than words spoken."

  • @patsematary Wow that's quite hateful and intolerant. How's that working out for you?

  • @saint357saint She is a part of that culture and is every bit as representative of it as the people she wants to represent. Wearing the hijab is a personal choice, one that is usually respected either way in Morocco. It seems that they care more about whether she is going to ensure that they have clean water than if she wears a hijab or not.
