thanks for the info. i wonder though if the similar features (bats and tarsiers) are convergent or inherited through common ancestry.
are tarsiers new world monkeys? i have that impression although a quick look at wikipedia has corrects me. also another 2 minute search shows that bats and tarsiers are convergent.
amazing what can be found within a few minutes while looking at half decent resources. a lesson creationists should take home. ;-)

@bignastydragon: I can't cite anything for you, because I can't remember where I read this, but apparently bats and prosimians share a close common ancestor, and bats are more closely related to prosimians than mice and other small mammals.

@matte5299: Thanks for stating the obvious, dim-wit. Gravity, algebra, special relativity, plate tectonics, and evolution are all theories. What do they all have in common? They're all true. This whole "evolution is only a theory!" thing is getting tiresome. Look up the meaning of a theory, then look up the meaning of a hypothesis, then compare the two. Then consider getting an education.

Tell the residents of Hiroshima that their nuclear bomb was just Atomic Theory.
Then go look up the word theory.

We're literally all family, we should take care of them like we're older brothers, and the parents are dead, just like God.

Good that you put new world monkeys before old world, as it is now being hypothesised that the asian origin of anthropoids includes the first ancestral new world monkeys, that then made it across the bering to north and then south america, I'm not sure how the north american fossil record squares with this.

Evolution is a theory? Right.. ..so is time, relitivity, and the magical, mystical, quantum mechanical computer to which you just typed your theoretical opinion on the theoretical web.. Hey, and did you know that you thoughts are but a theory...

4:50 is an asian primate :p
some of the earlier monkeys looked very much batlike. just an observation.
i assume those features work well in mammals for the tree dwelling environment.

Those tarsiers are amazing primates. they have the longest fossil record of any primate genus. What makes them so stunning is their massive eyes, each one is as large as their brain. Like bats, they are nocturnal...but no wings.
