Theatre of Tragedy is a Norwegian band from Stavanger, originally assembled in 1992 and best known for their earlier albums, which provided a great deal of influence to the gothic metal genre. The band made use of contrasting vocals - male bass vocals (making some use of death grunts) and female soprano singing (commonly referred to as "Beauty and the Beast" vocals) - and on their first three albums, presented lyrics written predominantly in Early Modern English. Starting from the album Musique, however, Theatre of Tragedy made drastic changes to its style, which became significantly inspired by the industrial rock genre, abandoning Early Modern English writing and death grunts in the process.

  • @laboratorian yes. a good video needs creativity. what is shown must have some relevance to the song

  • @SanjeevGeorgeV Does a musicvideo need a meaning?

  • Does a musicvideo need a meaning?

  • Thatz AwesuM...

  • I listened and listened for the "bass" vocals, never heard it, heard the second tenor moans and slurs but never even got a glimpse of any bass. The Alto lead singer never got to any soprano either, but i guess misnomers in music are rampant and prevalent everywhere. The music is good, the lyrics are okay, but i do like them and am exploring other songs by them thanks for the video.

  • whats the meaning of the video?

  • Too bad they disbanded

  • @Ghostblood1334 hmm...ok thanks for informing me XD

  • heheh it is just a tragedy ...

  • @TheBlackDreamWorld Gothic Rock comes from punk. There is no such thing as goth metal, only dark metal , its an oxymoron title. Mainly because goth was never metal to begin with. The dark metal bands come from doom metal. The only bands I can really consider truly goth metal is Type O Negative, Seraphim Shock, Paradise Lost and that's it because they keep the gothic rythem while still being metal. Sorry for being such a genre nazi, its just what I learned from researching tons of music.
