In this video I got the foreground image completed which goes well with the background image I did in the last video... And man did it come together or what?! I went with the compass design because the majority of the comments in the last video was leaning towards that, and did dashes instead of numbers. I think that makes it look even more modern! looking forward to hearing what you think about this clock. I has a designer look to it! =O Next video you will see it finished and baked... AND GLOWING!!! See ya soon! Please don't forget to rate this video.. and if you want to help me out share it on Facebook? Let me know if you did so I can thank you! And thank you ALL for watching!!! =D
For those new to all this. This is a polymer clay craft project, so far I used wood and polymer clay to create what you here here. Polymer clay is awesome because it doesn't dry out and stays soft until you bake it! I have the whole process listed via the links below if you want to see how I made it.

Whelp... have you ever fried a piece of bologna in a skillet? Know how it bubble up in the middle till you poke it or flip it? Well, that's what just happened to my clock. I was able to save it somewhat by pressing and holding oven mitts where the bubbles were. Has 2 cracks I can repair later.... but all in all it will still look good on our wall. DO NOT USE WOOD OF THIS SIZE! It seems to want to bubble. I'll update all the videos and set things straight in the final reveal.

Did you not bond the northstar and the number markings to the rest using liquid clay or clay diluent this time?

No I didn't this time. I had to move these pieces around a bit and that would have been nearly impossible if it was sticky like that lol.. I used my fingers to firmly work them on once I felt they were situated. These are isolated pieces so its not like the background I did in the last video. It should be fine either way, but this was was easier for me. Hope that makes since lol o.O

That looks really good Tom! I would have made the dashes half the size but since I haven't seen the finished product I am just gonna wait and see how it all comes together. Thumbs up!

thanks for the feed back.. The wife said the same thing, that they should be thinner or smaller.. But my argument was its easier to see it this way from a distance, also the glowing effect is reeeealy cool too. You will never really view this clock from the distance it was filmed at so.. lol Anyway there already cleaned up and ready to go so I'm gonna keep them .. And thanks!!

Hey Tom,
I like the idea of being able to tell what time it is in the dark. Question now is, will the arms also glow in the dark? PEACE and Happy New Year!

Not on there own, good question! I have a glow pait I could try to put a few coats on them and see if that works well enough. I can also try to put a thin strip in the tips of glow clay.. that might create a balancing issue tho with the time function. I will try paint first tho. It would be nice if you could actually tell time in the dark tho, well see. =D Happy new year to you too!

great job!!! I loved the idea other than the fact I was kind of let down.... don't freak out.... I loved it just I would have loved it a little more if I knew how small it was to start with... I thought it was going to be the same size as your inspiration.

LOVE! I especially love how it looks so modern and classy with the squared design and the black and white star, but the metallic colors give off a very warm feel when you look at it. :D

Looks really great! Love your color choices and the star looks amazing. Have you thought about baking after each step? I don't know if this would help with the bubble issue, but if you use your roller after applying each layer, you may get a little better bond. Can't wait to see the finished product!
