  • Great video; perhaps a better translation of "Tha an oidhche a-nochd fuar" would be "Cold is the night", as it is quite a poetic turn of phrase I think.. co dhui, 'smath rinn thu!

  • Thanks, but the lyrics are from inserts in the CDs. However, I don't know if that is a literal translation of the lyrics.

  • A very beautiful Scottish girl introduced me to this, our passions will be forever intertwined within the words of this song.

  • See my Clannad song, another good ballad

  • This was the song that got me listening to Runrig.

  • A relatively new Runrig convert (my daughter brought them to my attention last year through Stamping Ground), I'm really enjoying exploring their earler music. This is a beautiful ballad; thank you for posting with the English translation of the lyrics.

  • my fave runrig song also

  • Thank you so much, tapadh leibh x

  • "sheachd" should be "sneachd", shouldn't be?

  • What a beatifull ballad.I honestly did not realise what a beautifull tongue scots gaelic was till I started to listen to it in song.

  • @BATTERIESc They have sung in irish gaeilge before or so my aunty says but I am not sure what song anyway you should be able to make out most of the words like I can understand the vast majority of amhran na bhfiann. :)

  • Very much like my irish gaeilge , Very close indeed.

  • Love this version & the version from Na Rionnagan of the Glasgow Gaelic School. It's a wonderful tribute to Gaelic songs - thanks to Runrig etc.......

  • is this the same song that.. na rionnagan.. do at the barrowlands
