THE GENIUS -
PINK FLOYD the Wall 1979 live 2010 2011 2012
Published in November 1979, "The Wall" went straight to the top of the charts in America, France, Germany, Sweden and Australia. In Italy the album remained in the charts for 27 weeks in a row between '79 and 80 of which 5 consecutive weeks at No. 1 and 13 weeks at 2 °.
"Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2" was the song chosen to present the album and became the first single from the band officially released in the UK since 1968. The song, containing the famous chorus of the students at London's Islington Green School, was recorded in the studios of Pink Floyd (the Britannia Row Studios in London) and became a huge hit from first place in the charts and sold millions of copies in no time.
But how did the work? In 1978, after finishing the tour in the early stages of "Animals", Roger Waters invented the concept album "The Wall", a partially autobiographical story tells of a fictional rock star named Pink that looks to its past and reflects on nature of fame and success.
Waters presented the project to his classmates, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason, bringing them demos of the songs already recorded and very well structured. The Pink Floyd they recorded "The Wall", their eleventh album, in 1979 between France, New York and Los Angeles, assisted by co-producer Bob Ezrin and engineer James Guthrie sound.
Between 1980 and 1981, Pink Floyd have brought "The Wall" on tour for 31 performances, including the U.S., UK and Germany, a spectacular show with a wall 12 meters high, built brick by brick on stage during a performance.
Between 2010 and 2011, Roger Waters was leading a tour with a new production of "The Wall" internationally acclaimed and peaked in May 2011 in London, where Roger was joined on stage 02 of the Arena by David Gilmour and Nick Mason .
