@Bob33330 In Mass Effect, the Krogans (the females race) were infected with something called the 'Genophage' another race (the Salarians, mordins race) developed it so that the Turians (Garrus' race) could use it against the Krogan. It lowers Krogan fertility, so their ability to give birth is greatly reduced. She's immune to it, so they can use her to develop a cure, to create more krogans, to help stop the reapers.
