  • I have two connections to the Dee Jays,

The drummer was my seventh grade Art class teacher

and the Newtons Lived at the end of our Block.

My parents told me stories of the band practicing in the basement.

Richard Newton gave my parents the album that had "Fight Fire" on it.

I remember playing this when I was a kid although I was a baby when my parents were given the album I discovered it later when my Art teacher told me he was in the band .

  • AND! 88Cutty, they didnt change thier name, it was a different band that my grandpa calls a complete JOKE.

  • Richard Newton, the rythm guitarist is my grandfather!!! I looked up some of his songs cuzz i cant find our CD copy and i LOVE this song!!! They were a great band and now hes teaching me the guitar!!! I love you pappy!!! <3

  • Ahhh man this is so great, thanks for the upload

  • It was June 66 when they opened for the Stones, they changed their name to The Swamp Rats shortly after that show.

  • these guys opened in pittsburgh pa my town in 1965 for the rolling stones long live terry lee!!!!!!!!!

  • AZ, I also learned new stuff today. I always thought my band was called Golly & the Discoverers. But after my deadly car crash in 1970 I cant remember really.

I was reincarnated and found myself in germany. Thanks to Joe to get my memory back, lol

  • These guys would have made it big if they had only worn their ridiculous white fur hats on stage......

    Cool posting, man thanx!

  • I got a GOLLYWOGS album after I discovered CCR in 60's. I didn't like it much, but as time rolled on, I got to really appreciate it. I did not know the GollyMcCry connection. I learn new stuff every day.

    CHEERS,

    AZ.

  • really cool, great drums too.
