This is the sounds my air blower makes when turned on and off on different levels. The cost of this repair and parts for it is expensive, so I am trying to find out some of the reasons what could be causing this awful noise.

Thanks for your help

  • GOod luck.

  • ***UPDATE***

Tried replacing the old motor (which seized and had a missing bearing) with a used one, and it turned out the used motor had a short in it causing the fuse in the external fuse-box to keep blowing out.

Just ordered a brand new original BOSCH motor from a company in the USA that charged me $200 for the motor with shipping and taxes. Since I've been working on this a lot lately, I will be putting it in on my own and hopefully replying back to you all with good news.

    Thanks guys!

  • @kopored ***FOLLOW UP***

This issue has been resolved and my motor is now working great, and if you do not want to do it on your own, then it will cost you about $400.

After purcashing the motor on it's own (cages were just transfered) for about $200 with taxes and shipping, it was prepared and installed for a cost of $180.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

    Otherwise, finally, it's fixed.

  • Now thats a nasty sound :O(

My air blower ( MB 190E 1,8 - 91 ) is making this weird howling noise, sounds kind of like a bird.

But only when the temperature is below 0 degrees C. out side.

  • Mine started to do the same thing when the temperature dropped. I had it re-lubed last year and it worked fine for a year, but when the temp dipped it went back to making the sound.

We basicaly need to buy a new motor for it and cages.

  • I´m afraid you´re right..

I´ve asked around. And inclusive the mechanics charge, I have to pay about 550 USD :O(

  • Yup, that seems to be the price here too.

Makes you want to say forget the blower all together and just buy a $600 winter jacket instead.

Such a cash grab that piece of equipment is, I wish it were at like $200 or $250 total, and I would do it right away.

  • For the record the blower motor is easy to remove. Just remove the plastic grille under the wiper blade. Unbolt the wiper itself and remove it. Remove the long thin snap on metal clips and the plastic cover comes off. Unbolt the screws and wires and remove the motor.

  • I cant figure out how my 92 300ce mercedes is not blowing air. the blower motor fuse use to blow, but i released the battery cable then placed fuse in and it doesnt blow anymore, but the heat still does not come on. Im trying to figure out where the blower motor and reistor so i can check it before i pay too much to get it fixed.

  • Mine did the same thing when i bought it,i dont think the original owner ever used the fan but atfter a while it went away.Same system on a w124 that i had.

  • @smp22 You don't use silicon lube. A drop of transmission fluid on the bearing shaft is best.

  • @fluterampal You are correct fluterampel. It's not a screw though. There are no screws holding the blower motor or the housing. There are clips.

  • @sariglenn It's the cabin fan motor.

  • Why did you start the car ? You just have to turn the key on.

  • you dont even know how to start the thing properly

  • @kopored I just bought a 1992 300 e. The ac doesnt work but on the right side under the dash you can here what sounds like a motor and it wont cut off unless I shut off the car. I just want the motor to cut off until I decide to fix the a/c. Anythoughts on how I could do this? I tried pulling different fuses that were labeled but to no avail. Which leaves me confused as to what the nosie actually is. The noise is much quieter than the noise in ur video. But its def something running continuosly.

  • I just lubed mine .. two months now and it's still ok. Make sure to use silicone lube if you're going this route. Mine wasn't this bad though, just squeaky.
