Fresno's Rogue Festival, which is said to be the largest fringe performing arts festival in the West, lasts two weekends. For Greg Taber's crew of actors, that's four performances in seven days. Then again, that ratio is pretty close to their rehearsal schedule.

"A Muse of Fire," an ensemble concept piece that stages a dozen of Shakepeare's most famous monologues in an insane asylum, is one of almost 100 acts this year. Director Taber and his actor wife, Lisa, hope to use the festival as a marketing opportunity for their new company, Theatre Ventoux. They're not alone. The Rogue festival features dance troupes, musical acts, comedians and artists of all kinds.
