"A showreel with a difference"
As far as I can tell, more often than not, a showreel tends to consist of a random assortment of clips from various film and video projects, cut to a random piece of music. Usually, when watching a showreel, you have absolutely no idea where any of these clips actually came from, and no idea of the owner's involvement in said clips, without sifting through cover letters, CVs and shot lists. It could be that they shot that particular clip, or directed it. Or it could be that they were vaguely involved with the production as a tea boy, or an extra sitting outside a cafe for 3.5 seconds. What I set out to do with my showreel was to eliminate this problem.
My goal was not to bombard your face with one hundred different unrelated shots over the space of 3 minutes, but to create an enlightening and stylized promotional video, which gives the viewer an insight into my work and ability, whilst simultaneously informing them of my roles in key projects over the past year, without even having to glance at a CV.
In short, it's a showreel without the bullshit. No false pretense, no "I was vaguely involved with this or that". I was involved in the creative process as a director, camera operator or editor (or a combination of the 3) on EVERY single shot used. I filmed 95% of the content myself, and worked as a director and/or editor on the remaining 5%. I also designed and edited the showreel myself, meaning every single aspect of this video is representative of myself and my work.
The music is just there to keep your ears happy. The track is "Philos" by Russian Circles.
Featuring footage from my previous years work, including that on "The Most Incredible Thing" with The Pet Shop Boys & "Polaris" with Tal Rosner, as well as with Paul O'Grady, Thorpe Park, B&W Films, Varsity Pro Wrestling, the Frontier Wrestling Alliance, Cosmo Jarvis & everything else I could possibly think of.
I hope you enjoy it. Feedback is much appreciated.
