Atheist is a design word, atheism is a religious term and we ought to stop using it if we want our independence from religion and call ourselves something else.
We have kept our minds natural so why allow the clergy to name us? we can come up with a name that represents us.

Suggestions? I think as long as the majority of people are theist, you need a word that denotes a position not held by the majority. "Theist", after all, is really only a term atheists use (that I've seen). If atheism becomes the norm, the term will likely be disappear into assumption and "theist" will, at that point, be the only term needed on a day to day basis. Just my opinion. But boy do I hope the world stops this destructive delusion soon!

"[...]that represents us".

I don't mean to offend, but the only thing that connect the two of us is our common lack of belief. I don't need any representation, I don't need any other connections, besides those I choose for myself.
Saying you want something that "represents" us, is, in my eyes, very counter-productive, and only enforces the theist's misconceptions.
