The second succesful flight of my Graupner Yak-54 (1,62 m wingspan) powered by an OS MAX 120AX engine w/ 16x6 MA prop. HUGE torque, HUGE power (unlimited climb @ 60% throttle).

  • @Yak54Fan: it was running _a_little_ rich, since the engine was not completely run in. Further more, I was running it on a 20% castor oil - 80% methanol fuel (no nitromethane or other additives. Hence the smoke :)

@fsj450: it had PLENTY of power; the engine was way too big for this bird (an OS 91FX would have been perfect) but that's what the folks at Graupner decided to bundle the plane with.

  • Good job he'd got the power on take off !! ..

Also looks tail heavy unless its how he's flying it ??

  • @fsj450 and no, the plane is not tail heavy, on the contrary - it was difficult to bring the CG to its position due to the weight of the engine.
