Saying Goodbye to A.J. Burnett

It's the way it is. You put on the Yankee uniform, even if you're traded there, you're hated. Personally I think it's ridiculous. People always talk crap about Yankee fans too but I remember when David Cone returned in 2001 as a RED SOX he was given a standing ovation. How did Red Sox fans treat Johnny Damon at Fenway in 2006? Booed him, after he helped them win the 2004 WS. And the Yankee fans are the bad fans? No.

A.J. had ONE BAD YEAR! Just in case no one knows this, but EVERY PITCHER has at least one bad year over the course of their careers! Yeah, A.J. was inconsistent this year, but I have faith in A.J.! Just watch him next year; he's gonna be there when we need him

@NYYanks2003040506 im a yankees fan, personally i feel red sox fans are just a bit nicer, did they ever boo ortiz when he was struggling in 09???? no, they always cheered him on, always had faith in him, where as arod, when he struggled, yankee fans wanted him out, talked so much shit about him, thats my opinion

To be fair to Jays fans though, I can kind of understand the feeling toward Burnett. If I were a Jays fan I probably wouldn't boo him, but his time in Toronto was much like Pavano's in NY. And I understand the frustration of the fans because even if you guys had money to spend you're still contending with NY and Boston and a good, young Rays team who just went to the WS in 2008. The AL East is no cake walk and a good team is always left out of the playoffs in that division.

@NYYanks2003040506 Burnett pitched fairly well when he was in Toronto, but it never seemed like his heart was totally into it. With Roy Halladay, it was the total opposite - Doc gave his heart and soul to the Blue Jays, and the fans love him for it.

Both Burnett and Beckett were great last night. Honestly, Burnett is doing much better in New York than I ever thought he would.
