A few days ago, my samsung 226bw monitor started flashing when I turned it on. After several minutes, it would warm up, and be fine. Searching on the internet (and youtube...thanks beast6228!) I found that I could just replace some blown capacitors to fix it.

Well, I've done that kind of thing before...so the fix took less than an hour!

  • I'm an amateur at soldering and haven't done it since high school years and years ago. I'm going to have to relearn it or something because I'm unemployed and can't afford a new monitor or professional repairs. I'm disappointed with Samsung and will probably never but a product from them again. They have ignored my requests for repair via e-mail and twitter.

  • @MrX600531 Evidently, about the time this monitor was made, a LOT of bad capacitors came out of china, and affected lots of consumer electronics made at the time. It's not really samsung's fault. The monitor's out of warranty, though I did read several stories about people getting them fixed for free back when the monitor was still in the warranty period.

  • Samsung tells me that enough of us complain, the item might go into recall status -- which means they fix it

THIS IS A HINT, FOLKS -- CALL SAMSUNG!

  • Same problem here...i might give it a try :)

  • mine just started flickering a couple days ago... thanks very much for the video! I will take mine apart this week... hopefully it's the same problem because this should be a pretty easy fix (I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron)... god bless the internet.
