@calholli The reason for going so deep was to also stop a creep slide of the upper 10 feet of soil....hence, the need to get 10 feet into bedrock with the piers for a total of 20 feet deep.
I'm in Australia doing the same thing with the mother of all decks. What's the machine called? How do I get one? It's exactly what I need! I can't get machine access into my backyard, I have a sloping block and my shovel is broken - along with my back!... I need to hit bedrock.
