  • You know, i must say that they sing like this because they feel lonely...I have two canaries and when one of them died the other called and called like this until I bought for him another mate. I'm afraid your little bird needs a friend. When they sing together they make much different sounds.

  • I wanted to thank your Sunny for singing so beautifully, I played him to my Eve while she was very unwell and his song pulled her through. Thank you xoxo He is beautiful.

  • what a beatuful cage, feels like he's in the wild again :)

  • This made me very happy : )

  • @antalya1705 actually the males sing to attract a female and to let other males know " hey i'm here and i'm big and strong" unhealthy or scared males will not sing, healthy males sing

  • Me and my mom are thinking of getting my dad a canary for his birthday, thing is we have cats..:\\ any ideas on how to keep the cat away from the canary?

  • @whiteeyelet Scuse me? I posted a factual acct. & you insult me. The absolute max. life expectancy of a canary is 14 years. Mine lived 13 1/2 years in the same rooms (& thousands of miles in a car) with 2 smokers. Which would seem to confirm the (quickly suppressed) 1998 findings of the WHO's massive 7-yr. study re: 2nd-hand smoke: "Fact: The only statistically significant number was a decrease in the risk of lung cancer among the children of smokers." Check Dave Hitt.com "facts/who".

  • @MiddleDeeping ........... SHUSH

  • @whiteeyelet Yes?

  • @15kylie Canaries do not need mirrors or toys. I think mirrors are a silly idea for any bird. Birds like to be around activity; living, moving, talking people, changes of scenery. I think most caged birds die of boredom. I take my canary into the LR when I practice piano, take him up to my BR to listen to the things on my computer (I play bird songs and music for him), talk to him as I cook. He likes to watch my dog, starts singing madly when people come in and we start talking.

  • @whiteeyelet BTW, I'm 84 and I assure you I can't get out of this Walpurgisnacht of a world soon enough.
