@maveraver the scotch eyed auger seems too heavy for nothing. I would just get a large chisel. i would make a square holes with it & cut the top of legs to the rectangle as well. that way the furniture stays pretty much durable even after the long time uses than round holes . The scotch eyed auger would be great to make a holes for the extracting tree saps though. thanks for the reply.

Is there a specific name for the auger because I'd like to buy one either online or some where like Home Depot if they have it? Btw awesome job!!!!
