Tyrus Thomas was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on February 18, 2010 for Ronald "Flip" Murray, Acie Law, and a future first round pick.

Thomas was drafted fourth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers on June 28, and then was traded to the Chicago Bulls along with Viktor Khryapa for LaMarcus Aldridge, the second overall pick.

In Tyrus's rookie season, he appeared in 72 games and started in four games and averaged 5.2 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.06 blocks per game, 13.4 minutes per game and had a 47.5% field goal percentage and a 60.6% free throw percentage. Tyrus participated in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest and would be the first Chicago Bulls representative since Scottie Pippen entered the contest in 1990.

During his sophomore year, he appeared in 74 games and started in 27 of them. He averaged 6.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, 0.97 blocks per game and 18.0 minutes per game. He had a 42.3% field goal percentage and a 74.1% free throw percentage.

In his third year, Tyrus appeared in 79 games, started in 61 of them and averaged 10.8 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 1 assist per game, 1.9 block per game, 1.1 steal per game, and 27.5 minutes per game. He had a field goal percentage of 45.1% and a free throw percentage of 78.3%. In Game 1 of the Celtics-Bulls series of the playoffs, Tyrus hit critical jumpers in overtime to help the Bulls secure the win.

  • Such an awesome mix. I was a little sad when he was traded but hey he and Gerald Wallace are gonna hopefully have some awesome highlights for us! I always have thought Tyrus was an underated player. His leaping ability is CRAZY!

  • the bulls starting lineup is better now but Tyrus would have been great off the bench behind Boozer. I love Tyrus but the problem with him is, when his athleticism is gone, so is his game.
