DST is moving.... and here's why!

On Friday, August 13th (ironic, I know) MXTP opened in the space below Dog Story Theater and celebrated with their debut concert. Because our landlord failed to notify us ahead of time or do any sound proofing to our venue, we were blasted right out of our own production. Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company had rented our theater for the weekend to do Henry V but that did not happen on Friday... and you can see from the video exactly why!

Starting September 1st, Dog Story Theater will be moving to a better venue! The new space is located in downtown Grand Rapids, will give us more space to work with, no bands playing below us and no bugs hoarding outside above our doors. Most importantly, we have a new landlord that will follow our rental agreement, abide by the laws and hey.. maybe this one will actually return our phone calls and emails!

It should be noted that this is NOT the fault of MXTP in any way, shape or form. This is a violation of our lease by our landlord. As artists, we appreciate what MXTP offers to our community and wish them the best of luck in their new venture. It just so happens that we can't both do our art in the same location.
