Jade Richards - The X Factor Judges Houses 2011 - The X Factor 2011 final 16: Finalists revealed for live shows

THE BOYS (mentored by Gary Barlow)

FRANKIE COCOZZA (@FrankieCocozza) -- The 18-year-old, from Brighton, was taken by his mum to the local theatre when he was aged eight and sang there until he was 13... when he stopped because it wasn't cool any more. The jobless teenager's biggest part was playing the Artful Dodger in Oliver!. He says: 'Everyone calls me the Artful Dodger... I see that as a good thing.'

MARCUS COLLINS (@Marcuscollinsuk) -- He was shy at school but did take part in musicals. The 23-year-old hairdresser from Liverpool says the many times he watched his idols, Destiny's Child, on stage inspired him to want to sing and perform.

CRAIG COLTON (@craigcoltonuk) -- Craig always wanted to be an actor and joined a drama course. It was there took the lead in a musical and the customer services assistant, 22, from Liverpool realised he could sing.

JAMES MICHAEL (@thejmichael) -- The unemployed singer taught himself a few songs on guitar while job-hunting after finishing school at 16. The 20-year-old from Cheshire (pictured) describes himself as 'not academic' but realised he had a love for music and went to college to study music technology.

THE GIRLS (mentored by Kelly Rowland)

MISHA BRYAN (@mishabryan) -- The 19-year-old student from Manchester (pictured) started singing seriously aged 14 and says singing was 'my way of understanding myself'. Her friends and family are very encouraging and always listen to her rehearse.

JANET DEVLIN (@JanetJealousy) -- She has been writing poems and songs since she was sevenyears- old. The 16-year-old student from Omagh says she finds singing much more natural than talking.

SOPHIE HABIBIS (@SophieHabibis) -- Barmaid Sophie says she was one of those children who couldn't study and that college wasn't for her -- because she needed to be active. The 19-year-old Londoner dreams of playing to thousands at festivals and says she wants to produce music that makes the hair on people's necks stand on end.

AMELIA LILY (@AmeliaLilyOffic) -- Her brother, Lewis, talked her into auditioning for the X Factor. Student Amelia, 16, from Middlesbrough, attends dance school and performs in an annual show every year, and also takes part in musical theatre.

THE GROUPS (mentored by Tulisa )

2 SHOES (@2shoesOfficial) -- Charley Bird, 23, a telesales worker, and retail assistant Lucy Texeira, 21, met while performing in Essex. They want to release an album called Every Party Needs New Shoes.

RHYTHMIX (@rhytmixoffic) -- Barmaid Jesy Nelson, 20, and waitress Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 19, both from London; 18-year-old Newcastle students Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall. They all entered as solo artists but were put into groups by the judges. Rhythmix was formed when the girls were plucked from those groups in the final boot camp stage.

NU VIBE (@nuvibeoffic) -- Students Richard Milford, from Birmingham, Bradley Johnson, from Liverpool, and Jordan Higo, from Manchester, all aged 16, and 19-year-olds Ashford Campbell, from Huddersfield and Stefan Romer, from Hampshire. They were also given the Rhythmix treatment, entering as solo artists before being put into groups.

THE RISK (@theriskoffic) -- Burger King worker Derry Mensah, 21, graduate Ashley Baptiste, 22, both from London, 20-year-old car salesman Andrew Merry, from Ayr and Coventry singer Charlie Healy, 25. Derry, Ashley and Andrew entered solo and were put into a group with two other contestants, who Tulisa replaced with Charlie.

THE OVER-25s (mentored by Louis Walsh )

SAMI BROOKES (@SamiBrookesXfac) -- The 31-year-old, from Rhyl, works in retail. Sami has entered karaoke competitions but never won, saying: 'I'm so unlucky I've never won pass the parcel.' She has watched the show for eight years and is ready to take her chance.

KITTY BRUCKNELL (@kittybrucknell) -- Kitty, 26, from Cheltenham (left), works as a tribute act. She has been singing since she was five and has performed at various summer camps. She was inspired by Britney Spears and loves Adam Lambert.

JONJO KERR (@jonjosephker) -- The 27-year-old from Warminster, Wiltshire, is The X Factor's first serving soldier. Before entering the competition he had only ever sung socially, at school and in karaoke bars. His dream is to release an album.

JOHNNY ROBINSON (@jrmusicoffic) -- He has loved singing since childhood and enjoys karaoke and playing charity gigs. He took part in Stars In Their Eyes when he was 24, as Boy George, and got through to the grand final. Now 45 and unemployed, living in Harrow, his dream is to play gigs the world over.
