Steampunkettes [HD]

in the last 10 years i sometimes saw movies and animations with steam engines and Jules Vernes types of machines, goggles, bustiers, high hats, blimps, etc etc, and a few weeks ago i discovered it's actually a literary genre and an aesthetic, there's even a name for it: Steampunk. So this movie is inspired by that, though initially the project was just to make images for the music i built in FL Studio

Spaz is the real name of Albert Einstein's dog

giving 'croquettes' to a dog is a reference to Aphex Twin Window Licker

The pier and tower are a reference to Coney ( wouldnt Connie be a prettier name?) Island and the movie Requiem for a Dream

The black lady is wearing shoes i made based on the dance shoes in Beyonce's 'single lady" video

The 'in the moon' lady at the end is a reference to the movie 'Belle de Jour' by Luis Buñuel

in the program you can chose any image or color as the background. in this video there's no green screen but you can render as a series of images and each image has a transparency kayer. With most video editing programs you could change the background. 3d animation, is faster to do than 2d/cartoon animation, you use dials to reposition each limb, that's called posing.

You can pose your character 1, 2 times per second of animation and the computer takes care of the intermediate poses

in the aphex twin video 'window licker' ( lèche vitrine ! ) we can hear a woman say "je vais faire des croquettes au chien" i always found it funny and that why it's in the lyrics

Very interesting. I assume you can green screen and then Color key into a different environment. Is that kind of animation time intensive?
