If you look at the stage, there are NO microphones anywhere near the lady! Also, the actual song has the original Tony Peluso guitar work - right down to the harmonic! But as I said before, the lady has the right to 'lip-sync' her own work and, if she was ill at the time her voice probably wasn't at its best. Finally, to get that smooth polished sound usually needs proper studio conditions. :-)

This is almost difficult to watch. I adore Karen, and always have. She's one of my heroes, and I wish I would have been alive to meet her when she was still in this world (where she belongs, still). Sigh, wonderful, beautiful amazing woman. <3

Lip synching occurs more frequently in the biz than one might think. Regarding that amazing voice, even in later recordings she was perfection, though she did not have the stamina to overdub all of the background vocals. Love her...miss her...

:-) No Offence taken. It was a crying shame that what helped to make the Carpenters great, should also help to destroy them! Sadly, tight schedules and extended tour committments take their toll on most performers. Its a shame that we knew less about Karen's illness back then, than we do now. Maybe she'd still be around if the medics had known more? So okay then, on certain things, we must agree to differ. Christmas and New Year greetings to you and yours too. :-)

@Factnotfictionpeople No need to take offense, none intended but I think you misunderstood what I was saying, Karen wasn't perfect, noone is but her voice is. She always nailed each and every note. You will very rarely find a flaw anywhere in her recordings. Everyone lip synched then, that is just the way things were done in those days. And you are right, she was a great artist. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!!!!!

@kcleadsister5083 Thank you for agreeing to me having my own opinion, most gracious of you. :-) Truth of the matter is though, the lady IS lip-Synching. Still and all; she WAS a great artist and they WERE a superb duo. You seem to find it hard to believe though, that even Karen Carpenter wasn't perfect.......

@Factnotfictionpeople While you are entitled to your opinion.......Even when Karen was ill her voice was still perfect, she needed nothing from any studio to "polish" that voice. It came naturally and it was and still is amazing!!

@Rudy61287 I totally agree. I have no problem with lip-synching. I just get annoyed when people denegrate artists for doing it, without understanding why! :-)
