  • @Bornn368 I will have to try that.... I always just used a feather. lol

  • @bottomgunner wow really? 85 cents a pound? I have been missing out on some decent money and good eating for a looooong time..... :( I am so ready to try eating some gar. What does it taste like? I eat gator and fish all the time... Does it taste like any other fish? or gator? You guys have me really excited about this coming fall.. lol Need something new to go with my wild hog/deer/rattlesnake and catfish eating. God bless the bounty of meat that we are provided with...

  • @Cowboylikeme Try a mullet or sardine as well if you can get that up there were in south Texas by port o conner and they run ramped in hog bayou and such.

  • @Cowboylikeme My father fished them for some 40 years or longer. My brother got too a point where he could clean a 150 pound gar in 30 seconds. My dad has caught tens of thousands of pounds in his day, at times had to clean them, haul them to places as for away as Baton Rouge, and try to sell them for about 18 cents a pound. Now, Gar prices go for around 85 cents a pound uncleaned. Thanks for watching.

  • @Bornn368 I live in Wichita Falls Texas and I go to the Trinity and the Brazos to get my Gar..... and we get some BIG MOFOS..... I cant wait till this next fall....

You know, I usually just bowfish them, but if you wanted to catch them on a hook... just tie a chicken feather to the hook and cast it out...... A gar will bite it shortly. It really works.

  • @Cowboylikeme you and me both sep ,oct is a real good time to get outside not summer like everyone says

  • @Bornn368 NIce.... I havent been fishing Gar for a while but I will as soon as the temp drops below 110........ Fall will be a Gar catching and Eating season... lol

  • @Cowboylikeme Theres a real good video on here somewhere about cleaning them you need a hatchet, hacksaw, and a really sharp knife not as bad as it would seem.

  • Yum.... I catch gar all of the time but was told that they are hard to clean. So I never tried it........ But I am going to now.... Thank you!
