Our youth group took a team to Mexico July 10th - 16th of 2011. We built 2 houses for families in need, bought the families food, built bunk beds, bought stoves, and decorated the homes with linens. Also, we built a couple of large picnic benches, soccer goals, a dry rock wall, a BBQ, had 4 days worth of crafts and games for the kids in the community, gave about 257,000 piggy-back rides, cooked a meal for about 160 people, and continued a wonderful relationship with this Oaxacan community that we started last year. In the upcoming years, we plan to help this community with more homes, possibly a church building in the center of town, a large play area for children, a food kitchen, a Sunday School area, a medical clinic, rooms for the medical staff, rooms for the pastor and his family, and dorm-style rooms for missionaries.
God was SO good on this trip by answering all of our prayers...and certainly NOT in the ways that WE expected!
