This is a video of the 2011 Kielder Marathon on Sunday 9th October 2011.
The film shows some of the event and one of our volunteers - Lt Col Jan Pilgrim, running in the event to raise funds for our charity.

The Border Collie is designed to be a sheepdog and was originally used for herding livestock in the English and Scottish Borders. Border Collie Rescue assesses all dogs coming into our care for herding ability and will rehome them as stockdogs if that is what they need to do but we also assess and rehome for scent discrimination skills to the Police, Prison Service and Excise to detect drugs, explosives and firearms -- to SARDA and other rescue organisations for mountain rescue and search and rescue work -- to help deaf, blind or otherwise disabled people as well as for working trials, flyball, agility, obedience and other interactive sporting disciplines and many of our dogs have qualified for Crufts in these disciplines. Those that show us they do not need or want to work are rehomed as PAT dogs, pets and companions.

  • My dear collie has probably been instrumental in saving my life ! I can't imagine life without her

  • @OlBlueshound Well, having two Border Collies...and Living a short drive from Keilder..I can assure you...there is no such thing as Sun at Keilder Water!...hahaha (just kidding)

I shall be sending BCRUK a cheque for £100 at the end of November, when my Redundancy pay comes through...you do a great Job....and well done to the Loonies who braved the Marathon!...rather you than me!

  • You guys at BCRUK are great, GO Jan! love the Border Collie "traditional colors" outfit. woo hoo! and Moly gets a hug, who says BC's can't be lap dogs? Although "wet" BC's are not that cuddly. Kielder Lake looks lovely but where's the sun shine? I'm supposed to be outside painting but it's raining here too so I'm on the computer, lucky me, rain, mmm, never mind.
