this video would be a lot more helpful if they had used an agar plate...I can't tell how he's streaking

weird our teacher told us to put the needle in the culture right after burning . make sure that the needle is burned by watching it become red then put it in the corner of the culture to cold it a little and then we hear a little voice then start taking from that culture .

Doing research micro 30 years ago we never used disposable loops. In education today we still use flamed ones. We also still prepare and pour our own media. You are probably right that we should update techniques to real-world standards. Oh and I would criticise him on lab coat and missing a tube flaming before he opened it.

If you are doing 500 plates a day, this method is pretty crap

Burning loops hasn't happened for years in working labs, doing it may damage the plate and irradiated plastic loops are cheap and cheerful
