Dwarf Fortress Video Tutorial 2010 part 05 - Advanced Military Scheduling part 1

It's 2010, and there is a new version of dwarf fortress out.

Part 05: In this part i explain some of the more advanced military settings and how you can set alert levels to defend your base.

I'm playing the game with tilesets and graphics because it makes the game make much more sense.

For this episode i switched to the lazy newb pack, because it has the dwarf therapist and stonesense built in. You can find it here:

Well Defcon1 should be your HIGHEST level of alert not the lowest.

Defcon 5 : Nothing

Defcon 4-3 : Alert, maybe even war

Defcon 2 : Open War

Defcon 1: Nuclear War

@aguywitha You can lock him in a room. If he goes to his assigned quarters, lock the door or If he goes into anyplace by himself lock the door and keep him there. You never know when you may need a tantruming dorf.

ok duck serious problem this crazy dumb dwarf fuck asshole face has killed his whole squad because he is throwing a tantrum(because of lack of chairs) and i cant have my other squads kill him is there soemthing i can do? maybe like tell my dwarves to stab their spears in the general direction of the recruit perhaps?

How in hell can you assign metal armors for new uniforms like the default ones has, Like buckler/shield combined, or just armor so they can choose one that they like themself... i can only see different kinds of armors but not just armor that would hold all types inside
