TEAM Charter Schools - Avery's Story

When 90% of TEAM's students go off to college in a city where fewer than 1 in 10 adults have a college degree, people start to question what's possible in education.

TEAM Schools is a growing network of schools in Newark, New Jersey, proving that students of all backgrounds can succeed in school. We currently serve more than 1,300 African American and Latino students from low income communities (as of 2010, the year this video was made). Most of our students enter our schools below grade level in reading and math, but in a few short years, they prove that their zip codes do not determine their destinies, achieving at levels that outpace their peers in Newark and across the state.
