Bridge Over Troubled Water(Live at Pearl's) by the late Eva Cassidy, the greatest singer of our time. In response to a viewer, I have added this below:

Eva Cassidy died, at the age of 33, in 1996 of melanoma, skin cancer. She was from Maryland, US and died just before she was getting better known. She could not get a recording contract in the US. She is still not well known in US. She is popular in the United Kingdom and much more well known in other European countries and other parts of the world.

There are a few sites on her life but do a search on her name on the web. You will find at the top, the best site on her life, run by her cousin, Laura Bligh, with lots of information about her.

Recently I have also posted (on YouTube) Eva Cassidy Story-Trevor McDonald Pts 1,2,3. This has additional information on Eva beyond the story on her by ABC Nightline.

  • I was in bands for half my life - anyone who hasn't sung live just can't comprehend how incredible it is that these recordings were made in a little club, or restaurant, and that this woman made this music without benefit of auto-tune or any other studio tricks, no 25 takes, no mixing, no NOTHING -- just her pure, AMAZING voice and her guitar.

    It's almost unbelievable.

I'm not a guy given to crying, but every time I listen to her water runs down my face - which SUCKS b.c I can't listen 2 much.

  • I'm saying a prayer right now for forty eight unfortunate souls. This woman is amazing and I'm saddened that it has taken me this long to discover her. God has taken one of his angels home to sing in his choir. We were blessed to have her here while we did.

  • Perfect pitch, perfect guitar, perfect voice...we were ALL blessed in Eva's presence with anything she did. Thank you God!

  • I have been listening to Eva for many years now and the one thing I do find amazing is the synergy between her voice and guitar, each helps bring out the best in the other.

  • OK, I've listened to about a half dozen of her songs and she might be the greatest singer that I've ever heard and I'm pretty old :)

  • Yes, Garfunkel has a wonderful voice and I think he would tip his hat to this beautiful voice we

are hearing on this video.Eva Cassidy was indeed angelic. It's a pity so many of us only learned

about her long after her passing but one thing is for sure,we won't forget her.

  • @dedicateddad

the best man cry...come on be a man :)

  • A friend just turned me on to this amazing singer. Wow, she is so lovely. I really love the way she does the Dusty Springfield song, "Son of a Preacher Man" and Simon &

    Garfunkel's, "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

  • This is the best version of this song.............

  • I remember hearing some awesome performers live at The Birchmere. Live performance must be a real test for artists, and I hope I do not exaggerate when I call The Wonderful Eva a true vocal artist. Although the two--possibly three--people applauding at the end make me cringe, I suspect this appearance is a measure of her commitment to her art. RIP.

  • For Simon and Steve, thinking about you both today. I just wish Simon, that you had had the chance to grow up and live life with your brother. Always in my heart xx

  • my god,no word to say,amazing
