This is the second time I go to a launch and I am only wishing I could see these things over and over again. One thing is seeing a launch on television, but there is nothing like being there and watching a rocket take off into space.

I opted to attempt to shoot video instead of taking pictures this time. I wish I could do it again and keep the camera on the tower for about 3-5 seconds longer at the beginning of the video, but you live and learn. I hope that when I go next time, I will have a HUGE telephoto lens and perhaps even get tickets to the closest point available which is about 6 miles away. This video of the Space Shuttle Atlantis launch is shot from about 12 miles away in Titusville, Florida.

There is nothing like a night launch though! If you want to see what I saw back on April 5, 2010 - the last "night launch" of the Space Shuttle program, visit my web site mentioned at the end of the video, or look in my profile here on YouTube. Shot with a Canon EOS 7D, 70-300mm.

Thanks for viewing!

(Correct audio added on 5/16 for STS132 - thanks to @MMSchlenk)
