Frank Sinatra
Reprise Recordings
(J. Darion, M. Leigh)
[Recorded November 18, 1966, Hollywood]

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To be better far than you are
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To be willing to give when there's no more to give
To be willing to die so that honor and justice may live
And I know if I'll only be true to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

  • New song

  • This song really gives me a western vibe. It reminds me of Ennio Morricone's music for The Man with No Name trilogy.

  • You must be mad to dislike Sinatra`s songs.

  • Frank got some heat for not going for the high note at the end. But it's the last note that's the essence of Sinatra. Listen to how clearly pronounced the "s" is at the end. Instead of letting the last note trail off into the sunset, he ended with flourish. Frank was such a master of the breath that he could concentrate on the emotion of songs instead of worrying about where the air was coming from. So many have learned from him, so many more NEED to learn from him.

  • ive been searching for this for so long! So glad i found it, ol blue eyes all the way!

  • Such a beautiful song, such a wonderful play. Every GOOD singer has sung it, and it always sounds terrific. Thank you Ford4312

  • OMG...this gave me goosebumps. A gorgeous man with golden pipes...Shame they don't make them like Mr. Sinatra anymore...

  • My husband is dying of Lou Gehrig disease, this song is everything he is, his battle, his strength, love this song, powerful, true, for all people who battle and face death and still reach for the stars !!

  • Damn, never knew Sinatra did this song.

Williams was good but you can't beat Sinatra.

    No no.
