Although private servers tend to get bad press, the server he mentioned is pretty legit with around 4500 people online/day. And it's split into normal rate/high rate, and many ex-retail players do play on the normal rate version. PVP definitely isn't watered down there either, quite a decent amount of skilled players, though zergs do happen a lot :\.
