@inarananeira I agree. I think a big reason for this is the language barrier. Sure, she knows English well, but she seems uneasy acting in English. She's arguably more confident in Spanish, not to mention she's worked on several films with Almodovar, so he knows how to get the best performances out of her.
Anyway, Los Abrazos Rotos is an amazing movie. One of Almodovar's best.

Penelope is superb as a Spanish girl in English languege films! I do enjoy her more Speaking her native language freely though! The same with Paz Vega and the other Spanish gals that I love! In this movie Penelope is so intensely loving that I want to make her my own!
