  • HERBY!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd like to mention George Clayborn ( fiddle ) was also one of the many fiddle players with Bob in the 50's.

  • GREAT. Thank you

  • Only two words: JUST GREAT !!! Rene G.

  • love your music, you guys are great, reminds me of my 10 years at the Las Vegas Golden nugget, the Dave Bunker show, in the 60's and 70's, hey we got two things in common, were both 74 and still kickin a____. those were great times in music

  • I heard Jeff Newman, the great Pedal Steel teacher and a Texan himself, describe this as "Fat Ankle Music" because at the end of a night of this, u'r ankles was......well I shouldn't have to explain it, lol.

I saw the Texas Playboys with Eldon on guitar, and Leon McAuliffe on 4 neck non pedal steel at Scotty's International Steel Guitar Convention back in '85. The mention was made back then, that when someone passed away....it was doubly hard to replace both a friend, and fello musician. TY!

  • Leon Chambers probably the best guitar player for western swing and country dance music. He just blows my doors off everytime I hear him play.

  • It's a moot point to say who are the OriginalTexas Playboys...It's an ongoing panoply of membership, in fact many of the members of the current group of Texas Playboys played with Bob only in his last years, and some, like Terry Morris, Jr, not at all with Bob. Yet, they carry on this tradition in stellar fashion. I saw them a year ago at Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camp, Western and Swing Week, in NY and they were stunning. Leon Rausch, Curly, Tommy Alsup, ubelievable in their 70's and 80's.

  • These aren't the original Texas Playboys. The singer is Leon Rausch, who sang with bob Wills back in the '50s. The ORIGINAL Playboys are Leon McAuliffe on steel; Tiny Moore on electric mandolin; Eldon Shamblin on guitar; Smokey Dacus on drums; Leo Teirney on fiddle; Tommy Duncan, vocals, and a handful of others. Johnny Gimble didn't play with Bob Wills until the early 1950s.
