Actually "musrooms" contain a psychoactive chemical called 'Psilocybin'. Psilocybin closely mimics the neurotransmitter Serotonin, and specifically stimulates the 5-HT2A serotonin receptor causing the psychoactive effects. Hope that cleared any misconceptions you had up.
