@allyourbase99 Nah, Valkyrie Profile 2 (Which is a game Motoi Sakuraba also made the OST for) does that and not only once, but many times, and also makes the opposite, making the apparently main antagonist your allies at some point.

I have two valid arguments for you:
1. I spent the whole game stat-building this character, Frederic, only to have him taken away at the last battle and used against me. You gotta admit, that's pretty cheap.
2. Why would Chopin challenge his friends to a fight if he wanted to die? Even if he thought it was all a dream and it should end, wouldn't it make more sense to throw himself off a cliff rather than expect his friends to sever all emotional ties and kill him (which they probably won't)?
