Because a commenter brought it up: giving credit to the Association for making this song, and to the Smothers Brothers for hosting them on that episode of their show.

This kind of the equivalent of mass produced paintings printed on canvas and in a factory somewhere somebody paints a few brushstrokes on it to give the illusion of it being a real, individually done painting. A lip sync with lead vocal. I wonder how this came across if you were in the studio audience.
Check them out on Rockhead515's Youtube post doing "Along Comes Mary" while performing as the opening act at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival - very cool indeed!
My gosh, of course Tandolin2, the poster I referred to previously, is authoritative on this subject -- it's apparently Tandyn Almer, the author of the song! How cool is that! Go back halfway on these posts and follow Tandolin2's comments with that perspective. Thanks (a year late) Tandyn. The other posters who have mentioned how great the band STILL is -- they are absolutely right and I last saw them WITHOUT lead singer Yester. With him, well WOW! Glad he's back.
7188181 You're right. MUCH music prerecorded, NOT always the Record version. Some guests arrived too late to record the track used before the show & the record version was used. Almost all acoustic acts were live like Glenn Campbell. With feedback, monitors & sound, I thought this was a live performances. In earlier posts Tandolin says the vocals were live, & track recorded. He has a personal connection with the Association & so I'll take his comments as authoritative. Band is still good.
