Hmmm. During my childhood - here in east London (I still live here) - we were trusted not to hurl ourselves into any local expanse of water, whether it be Woolwich Ferry, Wanstead Flats or any of our canals. I should think the amount - not counting the drunks - of people who "fell" into our canals was minimal by any standards. It's a matter of education, coupled with common sense. There endeth my sermon.....

It's amazing to see a cycleway beside a canal that has no safety fence. Thanks for putting up the video.
