It's been about a year or so since I played the Japanese version of PBR. I know your minds are probably thinking, "How in the world is she able to use this game on an American Wii?" I will be honest: there is an app on the Homebrew Channel that allows you to boot any game, even imported games. I paid $70 for this game, so when I found out a way to play it after all, of course I was going to try it. However, let me just be clear that I do not use the Homebrew Channel to cheat or hack in games in any way. I just use it for this purpose, which I think is okay.

Now that that is clear, I can talk about the battle. Well, I find that Japanese players who normally refuse to exchange Friend Passes with me on my American file are a LOT more courteous to share when I play on this file. (I think only two or three times my opponent refused to share it with me.) Since most of you can't read Japanese, my Ponyta knows Flare Blitz, Hypnosis, Agility, and Bounce. My Ambipom (with Kings Rock and Technician) knows Fake Out, Fling, Fury Swipes, and Aerial Ace. And my Steelix knows Stone Edge, Earthquake, Gyro Ball, and Aqua Tail.

Hitmontop with Technician and a Life Orb is one tough setup. Mach Punch--if I'm doing the math right--has a power of 148.5. It's no wonder Ambipom fainted so quickly. Steelix was a good match-up, but once Gallade started using Bulk Up, it was pretty safe to say that there was no stopping that rhino.

And, yes, Ponyta is very suicidal. Don't follow her ways.

In future PBR battles, I will put up the battle number for my 5th gen battles. You can plug in the number and see the matches I choose to share by talking to the lady on the second floor at the top right corner in the Pokémon Center. (Prepositional madness, anyone?) I've seen a few other YouTubers do it this way, and I think it is a great idea.

I used Ponyta, Ambipom, and Steelix. My opponent used Alakazam, Hitmontop, and Gallade.

  • The Japanese announcer is awesome. So enthusiastic. I love Bulk Up/Drain Punch strategies. My Hitmonchan has one. I thought I was being so creative, but I've seen it more and more. Mostly on Japanese teams with Gallade, interestingly enough.

    Great battle!

  • I don't care if this is Japanese Its still epic and besides the announcer isn't as annoying

  • Ok... What's the homebrew channel? That would be perfect for me, since I HATE the german announcer and would love to hear the japanese one... :3

  • The Japanese are aware of the fail that is most of North American players. If they're not loaded with garbage legendaries, they're relegating themselves to Smogon's overdone preset sets and teams.

  • a question can i trade pokémons from this game Battle Revolution for Pokémon Black/white and SoulSilver/HeartGold to or online for Pearl/Diamond/Platinum????

  • aye bro wats ur frend code myns is 0690-6209-9011

  • Great battle, I didn't expect to see the Japanese version from you lol.

  • cant wait for PBR2 on project cafe gonna be tha shit

  • Im always playing on my Japanese PBR with very little exception. No offence, but US players are often boring, even when not using OU's since theyre affected by Smogon etc. anyways. not just the followers, but also the people against Smogon are clearly playing different. see 0Yarko for example. a lot of US people think Thunder cant be used without Rain or Gravity, but who says it doesnt? maybe I want to trade luck for power. they just have rules thats the thing

  • Good battle, and I love how people never read descriptions on videos lol. I liked the moveset on your steelix
