  • This is a lucky place, where they use Carl Douglas-es for beginner practice! :^)

  • This was some points from a World Rowing Champion. BUT!!! Always listen what your coach is saying. Because coach could have his schedule and time when to teach or explain to you some details of technique.

  • The second major mistake. The rower uses his lags before the oar enters the water. By this mistake, on each stroke, the rower slows down the boat and each other stroke he starts from the beginning. This is mistake. The speed of a boat should be containing without stopping during a catch. This is a difficult technical element, and perhaps not immediately able to learn it. But it was not worth remembering, because in the future, it will help to keep a speed at 2000 meters.

  • How to fix this mistake? Rower must be able to relax as he does catching, and during he does pulling. Hands should be only as a nexus between the legs, back and oar. Hands should be relaxed as a "rope"

  • We all know, that the rower system: hands, back, legs - hands are the weakest link. Therefore, if this mistake of this rower will be strengthened, in the future, on a race, after 1000 meters of a distance, his hands can’t match the power of the legs and back. And we also know that the productivity of any system is always determined by the work of the weakest link.

  • Hi everyone! The balance is not so important at this stage of preparation. In this footage, the rower makes two main (often for rowers) mistakes. First, during the catch and further, when he pulls, his upper body rather not relaxed. In other words, he pulls on the bent arms. This is a very bad sign.

  • @ajudicator because rowing in a scull is really hard. I did it for my first time today. Usually i row in 8. My coach said scullers can leave their oars on the water for up to 2 years to get the balance.

  • Charles,

Looking good in that rougher water.

I think you are loosing quite a bit of length by not having your blades squared earlier and ready for placement at the catch. Note the back splash as well.

  • Looking good! Why is the blade still hitting the water when you feather?

I'm a novice and i need to tap the blade over the water but you seem pretty expert. ?

  • Is that Ivanov in the Douglas?
