This is the introduction to the most amazing spontaneous concert I've ever videotaped. Held in 2000 at St. Anne's Church in Palo Alto, CA. Featuring Father John Hester, Rabbi Yeshaia Familant, his son and virtuoso saxophonist Jon Familant, singer-songwriter-musician Jan Herzen, hammer dulcimer player Harry Ely, and Maruga Booker and his wife, Shakti (just before they moved to Michigan). Maruga was at Woodstock, knew Alice and John Coltrane, and played with Babatunde Olatunji. The concert ranges from liturgical chant to free-style jazz to amazing drum, sax, flute, guitar and dulcimer solos. Each section is unique. Try them all - I'm sure you'll find something you'll love to listen to.! This is a unique recording. Peace!
