  • get your facts straight. no one is saying that Turks built all those thing.. many different people have left there mark in Anatolia. Hittites, Lycians, Lydians, Phragyians, Assyrians, Greeks, Persians,Macadonians, Celts, Romans, Byzantines, Armenians, Medes, Arabs, Laz, Kurds, Seljuks, Crusaders and Ottomans to name a few. This video was made to celebrate Anatolia and it's treasures regardless of who built them.

  • Turkey year 1800: Turks 12% Muslim Greeks 31% Kurds 12% Muslim Armenians(Hashemi) 6%; Greeks 18% Armenians 18% Christian Assyrians 3% [Muslims 61%] Turkey 1900: Turks 10% Muslim Greeks 25% Muhajir 20% Kurds 10% Muslim Armenians 5%; Greeks 14% Armenians 14% Christian Assyrians 2% [Muslims 70%] Turkey 2000: Turks 12% Muhajir 33% Muslim Greeks 33% Muslim Armenians 6% Kurds 16% [Muslims 100%]. Note: all Muhajir, Muslim Greeks and Muslim Armenians speak Turkish and consider themselves Turks !

  • First of all what does Muhajir mean? Secondly most of the so called "Greeks" you speak of were in fact really decendents of "Hellenized" Hittites, Lydians, Prhygians etc.. The true Greeks in Turkey were mostly either Ionians (Yunan = Ionian) from around Izmir or Pontians from the Black Sea coast.

  • Yes, you are perfectly right ! Most of the so-called "Greeks" in Anadolu are in fact Hellenized Hittites, Lydians, etc. They adopted Greek language and Christianity during the Roman and Byzantine times and later they adopted Turkish language and Islam during the Ottoman times. "Muhajir"="Muslim refugees" form Caucasus(Circassian, Chechen, etc) and Balkans(Bulgarians, Bosnians, Albanians, etc). They found a new home in Turkey after the Ottoman Empire lost the Caucasian and Balkan provinces.

  • Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me. It's great to come across more people like you who actually have a deeper understanding of the make up of Turkey and it's peoples. . Their's way too much ignorance out there..

I also think it's a positive thing that their is such a rich mixture of peoples and cultures in Turkey. And it's about time more of our fellow brothers and sisters embraced this fact.
