  • i guess i'm not born at the good time at all.We see so many musicians in the past that couldn't even earn a living with such genius when nowadays any nice-looking idiot comes out with a stupid song on the easiest expression of love and becomes a millionaire.

Jazz songs say way more than words could even try to say because you don't read, you are hit by genius and it's even frustrating because you can't put any words on it without wasting the song and shrinking the dimension of the Sound.

  • Gotta love Bubber Miley and that GROWL on the trumpet! I have this same exact version of this song... GREATNESS!

  • What year is this from?

  • @philipclock Search "Best of the Duke Ellington Centennial Edition." Its there.

  • @philipclock I'd look for the version from Ken Burns Jazz Duke Ellington. Still has that scratcy old-time sound to it

  • By far the best version I have heard. One of my all time favorite tracks

  • fantastic gem in 20's.

old ellington compositions are dynamic and lead parts has own character.

I think those music for reviews in club.

  • just listen to harry carney

  • thanks!!!!! this version is so sick!!!!!

  • @philipclock Look up Jazz : The First 100 Years cd on amazon or ebay. It came with my textbook for my jazz appreciation class and it has this song on it along with a lot more great jazz songs. Of course you posted that comment a while ago, so you might already have the song.

  • All the other versions of this tune that I've heard, were a bit more up-tempo... but THIS... is soooo ... tasty! I LIKE IT!
