Just a glimpse here of an All Star Band touring Europe in 1983. Billy Butterfield, Johnny Mince, Buddy Tate, Red Norvo, Tal Farlow, Slam Stewart, Sam Woodyard and Teddy Wilson. They played under the name 'The Great Eight'. February 17th 1983. The tune is 'Undecided'.
Slam Stewart on bass.....the man can sure slam that bass...very rare to see him perform live .....one of the early bass masters....of course every one else is swingin'.....wow...

@prezglick4 You are so right. I had the pleasure of seeing him at a London club with Pee Wee Erwin mant years ago.

Wow,what a swingin' clip. That was a great band. Too bad they didn't play longer. Johnny Mince is an unsung hero of swing clarinet, right up there with Shaw and Goodman.

Hey, that's beautiful! I saw that very band live on stage in my hometown, in 1984. This video is from the German TV-magazine "Tele Illustrierte", very square format, abandoned a long time ago. Great to learn these guys have played there!
Best regards,
Brew
