  • Hi there; If you have living trees, and they must be removed for some reason...that would make good fresh bark still containing the oils that make it more supple and less brittle. Be careful however, I understand that some states have protection laws for cottonwoods? Most carvers get this bark from 'downed' trees.

  • huh, weird... we have a bunch, and we live in Montana...i doubt Montana gives a care about cotton wood trees, and they are on our property, but you say fresh is better? alright, thanks chuck!
