In keeping with Missouri State University's statewide mission in public affairs, the Missouri State Board of Governors recognizes students who exemplify the concept of a citizen scholar. The Citizen Scholar Award recognizes students who have made significant accomplishments while enrolled at one of the Missouri State campuses.

The award is given to students who have contributed to the University, advanced the University's public affairs mission, have been significantly engaged in extracurricular accomplishments, and/or in significant service activities in the community.

Three of the six recipients of the 2010 Citizen Scholar Awards are here today. Luke England, Melissa Fagan, Jacob Swett. And joining them on the floor are members of the Board of Governors: Gordon Elliott, Brian Hammons, and Brandt Shields.

And on the court to congratulate these students are Missouri State president James Cofer and provost Belinda McCarthy. Ladies and gentlemen please acknowledge the 2010 citizen scholars. They are in the Bancorp South Academic Spotlight.
